This is really amazing writing and insight into one of our generation’s preceding generation’s biggest music breakthroughs. Beastie Boys pretty much singlehandedly created the need for the intense copyright laws we know and love today. Even Girltalk’s completely, in a sense, stolen music hasn’t created such a wave of copyright controversy. And let’s not pretend they didn’t pave the way for Mr. Marshall Mathers himself, who has gone on to break down even more barriers.
